Jaime Bonilla was sworn into office as the governor of Baja California today. He’s also the first governor to unseat the conservative party who has had a hard grasp of the state since the 90s.
Bonilla, who has a colourful history as a Republican, has become the first politician in history be democratically chosen for public office in both Mexico and the United States.
H e was the president of the Otay water board in California for twelve years. He also donated money to Republican campaigns like the one for John Mccain .
It is still unclear whether he’ll govern for the stated two years or for the “requested” five.

It’s surprisingly hard to answer... parties don’t actually have a clear ideology... so governments usually resemble the personal convictions of the rulers. Like OK!
Queretaro is a super conservative state, but the Presidential candidate from Queretaro from the conservative party was in favor of decriminalizing abortion; while the president that actually won (who is in a socialist-democratic party) is against it and prefers a national referendum
